June 29: Dragon's Den Results Recent press coverage- June 6Following recent press coverage in the Liverpool Daily Post – the Market Committee wants to reassure both traders and customers that Wirral Farmers' Market is not in danger of closing. The article highlighted the rent increase and we want to reiterate the background to this decision. As with many village halls across the region these are moving out of council control and will in future need to be self financing – the rents will therefore no longer be subsidised. Our market, which itself is a community project, has a charter to support the New Ferry Community and the Village Hall is an integral part of that community and therefore the committee agreed that paying additional rent was in line with our charter. We all need to react to the current financial times and we felt this was an appropriate use of the money raised at the market. Both the market and the hall are run by volunteers who give up their time to support this community resources and in any vote taken on funding the members who are also on the Hall management committee abstain in those votes. |

High Seas supply fish to Masterchef. No better recommendation than being asked by to supply fish for the contestants to cook with. High Seas were pleased to supply the fish at a recent filming but were not allowed to reveal the choice of fish and were asked to leave when the judging took place so no inside information on the results - so you'll have to wait for the new series!
